I saw a quote once from an unknown source: "The whole concept of being 'offended' is actually a giving away of power over one's own inner state due to what someone else has said or done. It is a position of powerlessness."
Does this resonate with you? Do you give up your power to situations or people you can't control?
The next time you feel yourself getting offended by something or someone, consisder that what offends us most often stems from our own beliefs and insecurities. Ask yourself, where does this seeming offense trigger me? And ask, is it worth it to expend this energy being offended, when perhaps a deeper look inside might be more valuable?
